You've probably tried all this - before chucking it out of the window, have you tried resetting the Brother to factory defaults and setting up from new. Any suggestions as to what I can do are welcome. I've read some posts here about people having the same problem but I didn't see where anyone solved it. Spend 2.5 hours on the phone with Brother this morning, and they say it must be something odd with my system and they cannot help me. I've deleted everything related to the device and re-installed multiple time.
I have tried multiple cables, and differnt ports. I have tried both the Apple image scan and the Brother Control Center, and neither one can talk to the priner over USB. It works find on my old MBP running 10.5. I have an older Brother MFC-9700 and I just got a new MBP with 10.8.3 and I cannot get the scanner to work. So, what is new and improved? Cortana snooping? Boot time, application load time, all of it. What could be wrong? BTW Intel I3 and Winblows 10 is running at the same speed as XP on that Dell Pentium dual core of 2008. Now the same problem, the PC does not see the printer at all. After that, for the first two days the printer worked fine. I then followed the instructions on the brother's site to force install the driver. Old setup 1: Winxp on the Dell Box + brother mfc9700 on the USB port - worked fine Old Setup 2: Upgrade the same hardware to windows 8.1 - worked fine too Bought Brand new Lenovo Intel I3 with Windows 10 and connected the same printer Windows did not recognize the printer (Brother site said use built-in driver).
